Self-balancing scooters are still impressing the masses years after exploding into the market. Whether you already own one or are looking to purchase a new model, it’s important to know how to properly charge a hoverboard.
Getting Started
You will normally find the plug next to on/off button. Just like your phone, plug one end into the board and the other into a wall outlet. Keep in mind that scooter needs to remain on while charging if you want to see its battery percentage.
Recharging
After the full charge, take it out for a spin and have fun. Once the battery dies, you can place it back on the charger, making sure to wait until it reaches a full charge again.
Extending Battery Life
Every battery dies eventually, but there are proactive steps you can take to make sure you get the most out of each one on your board. For starters, never allow the board to rest on a partial charge.
It is important to keep the hoverboard at a full charge whenever possible. If you’re commuting to work or school, bring your charger with you and use it while you work. When your board is sitting in storage, make sure to charge it once every three months to keep the battery from wearing out.
Tips and Safety
When the low battery alert comes on, get off of the board immediately and recharge it. Otherwise, you might find yourself heading for a bad fall when the device stops working.
Make sure the charger plugin is dry. If it is in any way wet or damp, you run the risk of electric shock and a trip to the emergency room.
If you ever notice a strange smell or leaking fluid coming from your hoverboard, this means that the battery has broken open. Do not use the board and never open the casing without a face mask and gloves. It is highly recommended to take the board to a repair shop or utilize your warranty if this happens.
Proper Charging
Knowing how to charge a hoverboard is important to the life and longevity of your device. Thankfully, it isn’t a very complicated process. Keep your battery charged and you will always have a fun and convenient way to get around town whenever you’d like.
If you have any specific questions about charging your board, refer to the user’s manual for specific information about your board. Each manufacturer’s model is different and might require different care.
